Man in the middle with ettercap

To start a “Man-In-The-Middle” attack, download the latest “ettercap” from Launchpad ( https://launchpad.net/~timothy-redaelli ). Then start the program with root privileges:

sudo ettercap -G

Go to menu “Options” / “Set netmask“. Use 255.255.255.0

Go to menu “Sniff” / “Unified sniffing“. Chose NIC to use.

Go to menu “Hosts” / “Scan for hosts“.

The program will search for available network devices. To get information about the devices found, go to menu “Hosts” / “Host list“. A list will appear with the discovered devices and their IP-addresses.

Define the “Man-In-The-Middle” attack: First mark the router in the device list, then click “Add to taget 1“. Then mark the device to attack and click “Add to target 2“. Start the attack from the menu “Mitm” / “Arp poisoning“. In the window that appears, mark “Sniff remote connections” and click OK. Start the sniffing with “Start > Start sniffing“.
